Next Step Independence
We recognise the emotional trauma experienced by young people about to leave care. During these uncertain times there is a need for them to find more than ‘just a place to live’.
Next Step Independence, as the name suggests, was created to ensure that young people aged 16-18 have more than just a safe place to live. We ensure that during this critical stage of their life and as they start to take their next steps to independence, young people benefit from a package of support which is tailored to meet their individual and often complex needs.
“Every young person we support is unique in the experiences they have had”
The time in which we have to work with young people who have already turned 16 is limited…
It is therefore essential that prior to placement we have fully assessed the young person’s current and still developing needs. We are clear and realistic about the support we can offer to safely transition our young people through to adulthood with the skills they will need to be successful in their adult lives.
We have developed services which focus upon a supported living model with 24hour staff supervision and packages of support which are carefully tailored to the individual. We are also able to offer continued outreach support packages to those young people who have successfully worked through their Pathway Plan and are living independently in the community.
